A Community Is More Than a Place to Read

October 27, 2026•4 min read

You can join a community and still feel as though you are doing everything alone.

You can read the posts. Save the resources. Watch the lessons. And still have a question you have never asked.

That matters to me.

Because what I want for Biblical Wealth Builders is not simply a place where information is available. I want it to become a place where you can ask real questions, receive encouragement, and put what you learn into practice.

Trust takes time

🤝 I host a small group for single mothers. It is now in its tenth year. It has taught me something about the difference between gathering people and building community.

You can say you want connection and still be afraid to speak.

You can want support and still wonder whether it is safe to let someone see what is really on your heart.

In that group, trust took time. A long time.

I had to keep showing up before people were ready to let their guard down.

I could have stopped. There were many times I could have stopped.

But the quiet did not mean the people did not matter. It meant building a safe, loving space required patience.

I carry that understanding here.

I do not expect you to arrive ready to tell everyone everything. You do not owe a community your private financial records or the painful details of your life.

You can begin with a question. A small one. You can answer a reflection or offer a kind response to someone else. You can take the time you need to decide what you are comfortable sharing.

What I hope you will do here

I want you to ask about what you are actually working through, not only read about what someone else is working through.

I want you to find encouragement. And, when you can, offer it.

That does not mean you have an answer for everyone. Sometimes the useful response is simply to listen, ask a thoughtful question, or share how you understood a resource without telling another person what they must do. (hint: not a good idea to tell people what to do)

I also want you to apply what you are learning.

📝 A lesson can give you something to think about. Your next step is to decide what you will do with it.

Choose one practical action for today. Look at a bill you have been avoiding. Write down a question about a recurring expense. Try one part of a lesson you have already read.

You do not have to make every change at once. I want you to do something with your finances today that you were not doing before. One step a day is encouraging. Feel encouraged.

Your trust belongs in God

I want you to put your trust in God. I am a vessel seeking to obey Him and do what I can to make this space safe and loving, for His glory.

🙏 I go on a Talk-To-God Walk most weekdays. Often, I ask Him how I can support the people He has brought into this space.

That is my heart for you. Not simply that you stay in the group. That you have somewhere to bring a question, receive support, and practice stewardship in your ordinary life.

👣 Today, choose one small step. You might ask a general money question in the Biblical Wealth Builders community, respond kindly to someone, or apply something you have learned.

Keep private details private. You can talk about a decision without posting account numbers, documents, or identifying information.

If you choose to share, a simple sentence is enough: “One thing I am working on is…”

✨ Prayer

Father, help me trust You as I take my next step. Give me wisdom about what to share and courage to ask for understanding. Help me receive encouragement and offer it with care. Show me how to put what I learn into practice today. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22, NKJV.

✨ Reflection Questions

  • What would help you feel comfortable asking an honest money question in a community?
  • What is one thing you have learned that you can put to practice?
