THE 4 PILLARS OF BIBLICAL WEALTH BUILDING
And Why Most People Get It Wrong
If you're confused about what to do with your money, you're not alone.
People are doing too many things at once. They're investing, saving, spending, giving in ways that don't have clear intention. And because of that, they muddy the path they're supposed to be on.
But the Bible is actually very clear about what to do with money. There are four pillars. And if you build your financial life on these four pillars, wealth becomes inevitable.
Pillar 1: EARN
First, you have to earn money. Not beg for it. Not wish for it. Earn it. Figure out what you're good at. What skill do you have? What value can you provide that people will pay for? Then develop that skill. Get really good at it. Get excellent at it. Because excellence commands premium pricing.
Whether you're a janitor, a plumber, a coach, or a CEO, if you're the best at what you do, you get to charge accordingly. Don't undervalue yourself.
Pillar 2: GIVE
Once you've earned, the second pillar is giving. Put God first. Give Him the first fruits of what you've earned. Not what's left over. Not the scraps. The first fruits. This acknowledges that everything you have comes from Him.
Then give to others. The widow. The orphan. The person in need. But give with intention, not obligation.
Pillar 3: SAVE
Save for your future. The Bible tells the story of Joseph, who saved during seven years of abundance, knowing that seven years of famine were coming. He didn't hoard the money. He prepared with it. He used it to develop himself and serve others.
When you save, don't hold the money so tight that you can't use it. Use it to invest in yourself. To develop your skills. To increase your earning capacity. Money that's saved is meant to work for you, not sit idle.
Pillar 4: INVEST
Finally, invest for your future self. For retirement. For the season when you can't work. When you invest, you're taking care of your future without burdening others.
But here's the key to all of this: It only works if you're not in debt.
Debt muddies the path. It means you're borrowing from someone else's well. It means you're trying to travel someone else's road. And when you do that, you can't fully execute these four pillars.
Earn. Give. Save. Invest. Those are the four pillars. If you build your financial life on these four pillars, and you stay out of debt, wealth in America becomes not a question of if, but a question of when.
